Who is eligible to participate in the Grow Hackathon?

The Grow Hackathon is open to everyone (not only engineers) who is willing and available to create solutions by exploring the Grow API. Participants from all backgrounds, genders, and geographies are welcome.

How can I participate?

Only registered participants will be allowed to participate in the Hackathon. The deadline for registration is on 9th December 2022 at 00:00 GMT. Late registrations will not be accepted. 

Can I come with my own team?

To ensure fairness and also promote collaboration, all teams shall be formed only during the Hackathon

What if I’m not in Lagos? Can I still participate in the Hackathon?

Yes, you can participate in the Hackathon virtually. You can join any team on the ground and contribute to product development virtually. The final demos will also be streamed for our online audience as well.

How many people can be on a team?

Every participant must belong to a team and each team shall have at least 3 and a maximum of 7 participants.

Can I have a team of Engineers only?

To ensure fairness and equal distribution of resources, there should be at least 1 but not more than 2 Software Developers or Engineers on a single team.

Can I present a pre-built solution at the Hackathon?

All solutions must be designed and built during the Hackathon. No development may start before the actual date and time of the event. Any team(s) that violates this rule will be automatically disqualified.

How much time would be allocated to product development?

The entire hackathon will span over 24 hours. 6 hours will be dedicated to product development and an extra 2 hours will be given for final preparations for the demo.

What criteria will be used to determine the best solution?

All solutions will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of competent judges across the following criteria:

  1. Technology: Engineering skill demonstrated, quality of code/integration
  2. User Experience: A well-designed product flow/user journey, attention to aesthetics, interaction, and user interface
  3. Business: Meets a customer need, potential to be a business
  4. Presentation: Clarity of written and oral presentation
  5. Inspiration: How much we love and are excited about the idea

About the Grow Hackathon

The Grow Hackathon is a product development event aimed at using the Curacel Grow API to create innovative solutions across predefined themes. 

This  2-day event will bring together Engineers, Product and Business Teams to compete for the grand prize.
